Introduced in April 2011, the pupil premium is allocated to children who are looked after by the local authority, those who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (also known as Ever 6 FSM) and for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces.
Objectives for Pupil Premium
- The Pupil Premium will be used to provide additional educational support to improve progress and to raise the standard of achievement for these pupils.
- The funding will be used to narrow and close the gap between the achievement of these pupils and their peers.
- As far as possible, the school will use the additional funding to address any underlying inequalities between children eligible for Pupil Premium and others.
- We will ensure that the funding reaches the pupils who need it most and that it makes a significant impact on their education and lives.
It is for schools to decide how the pupil premium allocated to their school is spent and schools are held accountable for their use of the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families and the impact this has on educational attainment.
